About Emilie J Lynch

My name is Emilie Lynch, PharmD, and I am the clinical pharmacy specialist for the pediatric hematology/oncology/stem cell transplant unit at UF Health Shands Hospital. I am also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. I was inspired to become a pharmacist who works with these patients when I went through chemotherapy and radiation treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma when I was 16 years old. Becoming a pediatric cancer survivor gave me a huge heart for other children with cancer who suffer as I did, so I dedicated my career and life to advocating for them. Academically, I was also fascinated by the chemotherapy I was receiving – how it worked to kill the cancer but also the side effects it caused, and how those side effects could be treated or prevented. My oncologist actually recommended this career for me, and it has been a perfect fit!

I received my Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Gainesville Campus in 2018, then completed two years of pharmacy residency at Seattle Children’s Hospital so I could specialize in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology/stem cell transplant. After residency, I worked as a pediatric hematology/oncology advanced patient care pharmacist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio from 2020-2021 before being called home to my alma mater.

I am an active member of the Patient Advocacy, Hodgkin Lymphoma, and Pharmacy committees within the Children’s Oncology Group. I also support the Keira Grace Foundation, which helps to improve chemotherapy access to pediatric cancer patients in developing nations in Latin America, and the Climb for Cancer Foundation, which provides psychosocial support to our pediatric cancer patients at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. My professional areas of interest include infectious disease in the immunocompromised patient, improving supportive care, reduction of toxicity and late effects, and patient- & family-friendly education.

Outside of work, I enjoy weight-lifting, reading, bike-riding, travelling, and spending time with my husband and dog.
